The Temple of Artemis

The temple of Artemis was also known as the the temple of Diana. This temple was constructed for the goddess Artemis. This temple was reconstructed three times before being destroyed in 401 AD. Only foundations and sculptural fragments still remain today. It was first built in The Bronze Age around 7th century BC. This temple was destroyed by a flood. Then the reconstruction began again around 550 BC under the Cretan architect Chersiphron and his son Metagenes. This project took 10 years to rebuilt only to be set on fire by Herostratus. Then later reconstructed again. This was considered a wonder of the world for around the first time it was built it was a sight to marvel at.
